AFESMO and the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration signed an agreement (28/04/2010)

The association will receive a grant of 300,000 euros from the Ministry of Social Policy and will provide another 100,000 euros

The agreement between the Association of Relatives and Mentally Ill of Molina de Segura (AFESMO) and the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Migration in the Region of Murcia has been signed, on Wednesday April 28 at the Plenary Hall of the City molinense .

The event was attended by the Mayor of the town, Eduardo Contreras Linares, the Social Policy Adviser, Women and Immigration Bascuñana Joaquín García, President of AFESMO, Delia Topham Reguera, the Managing Director of Social Action Murcia Institute (IMAS) Isabel Sola, and the Councillor for Social Welfare, Worship Molina López.

The purpose of the agreement is the grant by the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration of a subsidy amounting to 300,000 euros to the association AFESMO to finance the second phase of the construction and equipping of a Day Centre for People with chronic mental illness.

For its part, will provide another 100,000 euros AFESMO to carry out this second phase.

The construction of day care center started in 2009, when it was signed the first agreement between the region and AFESMO, for the same amounts that the initialed now.

In this way, is covered 75 percent of the construction budget and equipment, amounting to 1,436,573 euros.

The new Day Care Centre is built on a plot of 3,213 m2 municipal, assigned by the City molinense, and located in Calle Pablo Neruda, and the works are carried out by the Framing Steel Company, Ltd., with a lead time of 18 months.

The total area of 2282.56 m2 will be built, distributed in different buildings, elevations around the sports ground, and a covered area.

The objectives of this center are to support the continuation of the person in their environment, relieving the overload psychological, physical and emotional caregivers of people with chronic mental illness, and encourage the acquisition of healthy lifestyles and personal autonomy of patients.

The facility will have capacity to serve 100 users, aged between 18 and 64.

The center will have individual therapy services, cognitive stimulation, home care, social skills and parent education and family, among others, and is staffed by 15 professionals.
