The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, on behalf of the municipal government that signs this institutional declaration, before the xenophobic and racist demonstrations made in the proclamation of the patron celebrations of this year, is clearly positioned in front of them, and in favor of Respect for all people who live or work in our municipality, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, administrative situation or cultural identity.
The government team did not know beforehand the words pronounced by the preacher in the act last Friday, since he placed his trust in the impeccable public trajectory of the preacher.
We declare our commitment for the respect of this city council to the diversity and democratic freedoms that cost so much to establish in our society, and to keep away from the institutional practice any action that can feed the mockery, contempt or criminalization of groups or groups.
On the contrary, we will guide our institutional action to combat the proliferation of these ideas.
From this City Council we want to value the trajectory of Molina de Segura as a municipality for migrants, a land enriched for decades by people migrated from other regions, regions and countries, which have made it one of the most prosperous, advanced municipalities, dynamic and tolerant of our geographical environment.
A source of pride for this Corporation.
We also want to value the interest of the different municipal governments in developing local policies for the integration of migrants, becoming a benchmark in terms of social policies and development cooperation.
This institution has always guaranteed, and will continue to do so, the freedom of expression of people acting as preachers, although, as in this case, the public strongly expresses rejection and condemns the statements and assessments expressed in the act, as contrary to the values expressed and the policies that are developed here.
The government team signing this declaration is committed to maintaining, consolidating and fostering these values of tolerance, respect and democratic coexistence in diversity convinced that it is the best path for a fair, prosperous and free Molina de Segura.
