The City of Molina de Segura and the University of Murcia have signed a collaboration agreement for the development of the 5-10 Health Program: Healthy Children, Happy Adults, as reported by the Councilor for Sports and Public Health, Miguel Ángel Cantero García.
The 5-10 Health Program: Healthy Children, Happy Adults has been celebrated since 2013 with excellent results.
This is a program conducted by a research team of professionals from the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Clinical Hospital, Molina Hospital, FFIS Foundation, University of Murcia and Molina de Segura City Council, aimed at children in the municipality of Molina de Segura de 5 to 10 years who are obese and overweight.
In 2014 he received the Sports Merit Award from the Region of Murcia in the R & D & I category, and in 2018 he received the NAOS Award.
Within this program a sports intervention is carried out on children with obesity and overweight, designed and developed by Dr. Pilar Sainz de Baranda Andújar and collaborators of the Department of Physical Activity and Sports of the University of Murcia.
As stated in this agreement, the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Murcia has designed and is developing in the municipality of Molina de Segura an intervention of physical exercise framed in the Health Program 5-10, with the participation of 4 monitors and the specific sports equipment necessary for its development.
This activity takes place during the school year with a duration of 3 hours per week.
For its part, the Molinense City Council is committed to an economic contribution of 6,800 euros for the development of the aforementioned activity in 2019.
