The Department of Tourism of Molina de Segura served almost 13,000 visitors during 2019 (10/01/2020)

On January 20, the sixth anniversary of the opening of the Los Postigos Center is commemorated, a building that houses the Tourism Office of the Molina de Segura Town Hall and an Exhibition Hall.

Year by year the number of visitors and tourists who are served in this center has been increasing, through the numerous Programs developed by the Department of Tourism, with the aim of bringing local heritage to all those who wish.

In 2019 the number of visitors served was almost 13,000.

One of them is the Program of Concerted Visits for Groups, destined to the students of Primary and Secondary Education of the municipality and other groups.

This program reveals the history of the town from its origins to its flourishing canning past. In 2019, 29 groups were attended, with a total of 991 participants.

The most requested visit was one more year "A Walk through History."

Within the Program of Free Guided Tours, the Department of Tourism of the City of Molina de Segura, for the seventh consecutive year and in collaboration with the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia and the Regional Network of Tourism Offices, organized during 2019 a total of 10 of these visits, which took place from February 2 to December 29.

This program was attended by 1,600 people, who came from different municipalities in the Region, from neighboring provinces, and even from foreign countries.

This meant a 19% increase in visitors compared to 1,343 in 2018.

The Tourist Office, in its sixth year of operation, provided a total of 2,775 information services and responded to 4,815 requests from non-contact groups, serving a total of 7,590 requests for information.

Of the total information services requested, 2,370 came from the Region of Murcia, 208 were of national origin and 88 were international tourists.

On the other hand, the Museums!

Visit us received a total of 1. 687 visitors between schoolchildren and other groups.

On the first Sunday of the month in the Interpretation Center La Albarda Rites and Traditions of Campo de Molina 97 visitors were attended;

the second Sunday of the month, at the Carlos Soriano Ethnographic Museum in El Llano, 140 visitors;

and on the third Sunday of the month, in the Museum's Furnace Museum and House of Folklore, 125. In addition, in this same Museum every Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, 935 people were served.

It also highlights the participation of 390 people in the Program of Concerted Visits in Museums.

Since its opening, the center has had a program of temporary exhibitions, all of them by local and regional artists.

A total of 1,054 people visited the 8 exhibitions that were organized during the year 2019. The most visited were Pencil Portraits by Jesús Riquelme Benito and Vulcano by Juan Jiménez Maya.

As explained by the Councilor for Tourism, Andrés Martínez Cervantes, "it is our desire to continue the work of tourism promotion of the municipality, complying with constant quality services."
