The Department of Culture of the City of Molina de Segura organizes the fourteenth edition of the Literary Encounter Cycle in its 2020 ink where authors and authors such as Dolores Redondo, Soledad Puértolas, Paloma Sánchez-Garnica, David Lozano and Cristina Morató participate , between the months of February to May.

The cycle, in which this year women writers take a special role, has been presented at a press conference, today Friday, January 31, by the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes Navarro, and her coordinator, the journalist and writer, Lola Grace.

Since its first edition, this cycle of meetings with writers has obtained an enthusiastic response from the public, registering full in practically all acts.

The cycle has not only contributed to promoting the reading habit among the population, but has also helped to make Molina de Segura a cultural reference in literary matters.

In the thirteen previous editions of the cycle, some of the most prominent authors on the national and even international scene have participated, from the Frenchman Michel Houellebecq, the Peruvian Alfredo Bryce Echenique or the Irishman Ian Gibson, to recent classics of Spanish literature such as Ana María Matute , Eduardo Mendoza, Enrique Vila-Matas, Javier Cercas, Rosa Montero, Fernando Savater, Almudena Grandes, Ray Loriga, Juan José Millás, Manuel Vicent or Luis García Montero, among many others.

ROUND PAIN

(San Sebastian, 1969)

SOLEDAD PUERTOLAS

(Zaragoza, 1947)

Since 2010, he occupies the letter G of the Royal Academy of the Language and was one of the first women to receive the Planet for the Night, although his perhaps most famous novel is The Double Armed Bandit (he has a place named in the center from Madrid).

Awarded with the Community of Madrid Culture Award (2008) or the Zaragoza Gold Medal (2012), she has a degree in Journalism and has lived in Norway and California.

Other places that make up his vital and literary landscape are his native Zaragoza, Galicia and Pamplona.

In his speech at the RAE he said: "language has always been my essential ally (...), one of life's great gifts".

PALOMA SÁNCHEZ-GARNICA

(Madrid, 1962)

Sánchez-Garnica narrates her own biography as if she were a story character herself.

It is easy to imagine her family life, her discovery of the classics, the Chamberí neighborhood, her boyfriend Manolo, the summers in Salou and Santander, the long trips in a Renault 21 listening to zarzuelas.

She went from eternal opponent and lawyer without too many cases to a successful writer thanks to her trade and discipline.

His novel The Soul of the Stones (2010) was a great success among readers.

The three wounds (2012) and, above all, The Sonata of Silence, from which a TVE series was made, meant its consecration.

With my memory is stronger than your forgetfulness, he won the Fernando Lara 2016 Award.

DAVID LOZANO

(Zaragoza, 1974)

Lawyer and with studies of Hispanic Philology, he has worked as a lawyer and since 1998 he is professionally dedicated to writing, which combined time with teaching.

He has participated as an actor in various short films and was hired by producer Andrés Vicente Gómez as a screenwriter for the adaptation of The Traveler, first part of his trilogy The Dark Door.

Author also of the Escape games of the Titanic and Safari in Africa, he has the 2006 Wide Angle awards for Where Shadows arise and Edebé 2018 for Unknown.

CRISTINA MORATÓ

(Barcelona, ​​1961)

After long periods as a reporter in Latin America, Asia and Africa, in 2005 she traveled to Syria and Jordan for the first time.

He alternated his travels with the direction of television programs, which he abandoned to write.

Fruit of his journey through more than forty countries are the intrepid and adventurous traveling works (2001) or the queens of Africa (2003), among others.

He has also written about great divas or queens marked by tragedy.

His latest work, Goddesses of Hollywood (2019), includes the random biography of Ava Gardner, Liz Taylor, Grace Kelly and Rita Hayworth.

Founding member of the Spanish Geographic Society, it also belongs to the Royal Geographic Society of London.

All the meetings will take place at 8:00 p.m. in this library, with the exception of David Lozano's meeting, which will be at 1:00 p.m. in the IES Vega del Táder Assembly Hall.
