Soltec volunteers reforest the bank of the Segura River as it passes through Molina along with ANSE and the CHS (07/02/2020)

More than 70 volunteer employees of Soltec have created the “Ribera Soltec†with the planting of about 200 trees on the banks of the Segura River as it passes through Molina de Segura (Murcia), where the company's headquarters are located.

The Hydrographic Confederation of the Segura (CHS) and the Southeast Naturalist Association (ANSE) provided Soltec with the equipment and the pertinent indications to carry out the reforestation tasks.

The stretch of river where the plantations took place is between the Soto de los Alamos and the Soto de la Hijuela, which is part of the Greenway of the Region of Murcia.

Among the nearly 200 native trees there were different varieties: elderberries, ash trees, poplars, elms, tarages and ballad.

This action is framed within the Corporate Social Responsibility (RSC) policy of Soltec, which has a large team of volunteers, Global Services Solidarity Soltec.

The objective of this initiative is to move forward in the recovery of the regional ecosystem by creating a deciduous tree formation that allows large amounts of greenhouse gases to be removed from the atmosphere and that brings great value to society, since it acts as a reserve for biodiversity and It allows water decontamination.

In addition, the action is part of the project “Environmental recovery of the Segura, Molina de Segura and Alguazas River†within the framework of the ADAPTA Pima Plan of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation and which depends on the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

It is estimated that the expulsion of some 146 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere is avoided with this new plantation of deciduous trees.
