The Molina de Segura Local Security Board notes an 18% decrease in the number of burglaries in homes (11/02/2020)

In 2019, the number of troops dedicated to the protection of women victims of gender violence and their children has doubled, which has resulted in a significant 18.38% increase in the number of complaints

The Local Security Board of Molina de Segura held a meeting on Tuesday, February 11, at the Town Hall of the town, co-chaired by the First Deputy Mayor, Ángel Navarro García, and the Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Francisco Jiménez Jiménez.

The Chief of the National Police of the Region of Murcia, Alfonso Navarro López, the Councilor for Citizen Security, Julia Rosario Fernández Castro, the Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, José Pérez Almagro, the Chief Inspector of the Police Station the National Police in Molina de Segura, Pedro Arbizu Tonel, the General Secretary of the City Council, María Dolores Martín-Gil García, the representative of the Municipal Group of the Popular Party, Francisco Hernández Gómez, the Spokesman of the Municipal Vox Group, Antonio Martínez Sánchez, and the Spokesman of the Municipal Group of Podemos-Equo, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo.

In the meeting an analysis of the current situation of crime in the municipality and of public safety has been carried out, both in the urban area and in urbanizations and districts.

In terms of security, burglaries at home have decreased by 18% since the last meeting of the Board, held in July 2019. However, thefts have increased, despite the fact that, on many occasions, they have not They are denounced.

One of the problems detected is that many people do not report them, so it is planned to conduct talks in social centers to raise awareness about this problem and that police officers can act according to reality in terms of detection and prevention.

In 2019, the number of arrests has increased by 9%.

This evolution is the result of close collaboration between the National Police Corps and Local Police, both in terms of districts and urbanizations and urban center.

In districts there has been an increase in police activity by 33%, because robberies have been detected in some homes, which requires an increase in surveillance.

In the urban area, robberies occur mainly in single-family homes.

And in housing developments, some of which have surveillance cameras, thefts have dropped significantly.

The situation of occupied dwellings, which are perfectly located and are being evicted, has also been addressed, while their owners carry out the taping of them to avoid subsequent occupations.

With regard to the family and minor unit, the number of troops dedicated to the protection of women victims of gender violence and their children has doubled, which has resulted in a significant increase of 18 , 38% of the number of complaints, which has also helped the municipal campaign against gender violence.

The number of detainees in this area has increased 34.6%.

The effective police officers assigned to these tasks, in coordination with the Department of Equality, carry out a daily monitoring of the situation, which allows to improve the service and protection of the victims.

In this sense, talks are being held in institutes by the National Police Corps to raise awareness among young people regarding respect for equality and nonviolence.

However, the Government Delegate has invited the City Council to sign the VIogen agreement between the National Police and Local Police, already established in 13 municipalities of the Region, which allows to carry out comprehensive monitoring of cases of violence against gender, coordinating police actions with other institutions to increase information, risk prevention and prediction, and monitoring and protection of victims, to ensure their integrity.

The Chief Commissioner of Local Police, meanwhile, has indicated that there has been an increase in citizen security, acting in various areas.

Among them, through: municipal ordinances, to avoid noise and other neighborhood disturbances: road safety, with accident studies in more vulnerable groups;

and security campaigns in rural areas, weekly markets, etc.

It also acts on animal welfare;

The Canine Unit has been created, which is demonstrating its effectiveness in the detection of narcotic substances (associated with this issue, talks are planned in the institutes to influence awareness and avoid future sanctions);

and traffic control and regulation of less polluting vehicles is carried out to combat pollution.

The Councilor for Citizen Security has highlighted the extraordinary work carried out by the proximity police, because, since its creation, it has been acting with talks, recommendations and assistance to merchants, neighborhood associations, senior centers, etc., both in the urban area, as in districts and urbanizations.
