The Municipal Plan Against School Bullying of the Molina de Segura City Council receives an award from the Ministry of Education and Professional Training and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (25/03/2020)

The Municipal Plan Against School Bullying, developed by the Department of Education of the City of Molina de Segura at the initiative of the Participatory Budgeting process, has been awarded a prize from the V Contest of Good Municipal Practices in the prevention and intervention against absenteeism and bullying, in the category of prevention and intervention against bullying in municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, granted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, as reported, today Wednesday March 25, the Second Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Education, Fuensanta Martínez Jiménez.

The award will be presented, along with the other recognitions, within the framework of the Day of Good Practices in the prevention and intervention against absenteeism and bullying, whose celebration date is still to be set.

On this day, the Molinense City Council will participate in the dialogue table that will be shared by the representatives of the other awarded projects, in the same category.

Likewise, in order to publicize all the programs awarded in this contest, a Catalog will be published that will count with the collaboration of the team that has carried out the awarded plan in Molina de Segura.

School bullying is a fact that worries the citizens and the educational community of the municipality.

With the aim of providing training in its prevention and sensitizing residents of Molina de Segura, the Department of Education was in charge of designing and managing in 2019 the development of effective actions within a Municipal Plan for the improvement of coexistence between equals, endowed with a budget item of 50,000 euros, which the residents of Molina de Segura allocated for this purpose through the Participatory Budgeting process.

The Municipal Health Council has participated, along with other agents (families, teachers, associations and technicians from different councils), in advising on the plan's lines of work.

Objectives such as:

Improve school and social coexistence in Molina de Segura, favoring the peaceful resolution of conflicts and respect for social plurality.

Promote the reduction of bullying in the municipality by raising awareness of this problem and preventing attitudes and behaviors that lead to situations of bullying.

From the Department of Education, with the aim of giving voice and participation to different associations and entities related to work in the prevention of violent behavior in classrooms and the promotion of peaceful coexistence in them, has divided this Plan into different blocks of performances.

One for the training of teachers and municipal officials, which has been in charge of the University of Murcia.

And another one destined to work with students of 5th and 6th grades of Primary Education and Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, which has been carried out with the collaboration of the Murcian Association against Bullying (AMURCAE).

The section for training and raising awareness with families has been carried out by the Asociación Maestros Mundi.

And, finally, a block destined to carry out an awareness and information campaign, as well as the holding of the First Educational Innovation Days, which has had the collaboration of the Institute for Community Development (IDC).

The Councilor for Education, Fuensanta Martínez, reiterates her "thanks to the entire educational community and citizens for their involvement in the development of the project, as well as all the technicians who have participated in its realization and have made its success possible ", showing his satisfaction for the award received as a municipality in the prevention and eradication of absenteeism and dropping out of school.

"This recognition encourages us to continue working and betting on multidisciplinary actions that include as many educational and social agents as possible, thus reiterating my commitment as councilor for education in carrying out as many projects as possible to value the importance of education and of the actions of the town councils in monitoring compulsory schooling ".
