The Department of Social Welfare of Molina de Segura carries out a series of measures and actions to help people in situations of social vulnerability as a consequence of the state of alarm by COVID-19 (27/03/2020)

The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura has launched a set of measures and actions aimed at people in situations of social vulnerability, as a result of the declaration of the state of alarm to combat the spread of COVID-19, according to explained, today Friday March 27, the First Deputy Mayor and spokesman for the Municipal Monitoring Committee of COVID-19 in Molina de Segura, Ángel Navarro García.

These social measures began on March 16 and will be in force until April 11, aimed at people in situations of social vulnerability, such as elderly people living alone with mobility difficulties, people with disabilities, single-parent families with family dependents , people with mental health problems, or with cognitive decline.

All this with the following objectives:

Facilitate the permanence of the population in their homes.

Continue social care to cover basic social needs (food, basic supplies, accommodation, etc.) of social emergency, directly, or through social entities (Caritas, Red Cross), and channel them to solve.

Support and listen to people, especially the most vulnerable, providing advice and guidance to resources.

Give legal and psychological attention.

Address social emergency situations, in collaboration with the Red Cross, Caritas and Civil Protection.

Daily coordination with entities to resolve incidents or situations of social emergency (Caritas, Red Cross, Civil Protection, health centers, etc.), and service providers (Home Help in Molina de Segura, as provider of the Help Service for Address, Red Cross, as provider of the Telecare Service, and Axial, as provider of the Family Respite Service).

Coordination with the municipal residential care services.

Follow up, through the use of the telephone, of people treated at the Social Services Center, people in situations of social vulnerability, elderly people living alone, people with disabilities, single-parent families with family dependents, people with mental health problems and people that may present other problems.

The Social Services Center has established an organizational and operational structure, together with the municipality's social entities (Civil Protection, Caritas and the Red Cross) to cover situations of social need arising from the Alarm State.

And it does so using two resources:

Work team of the Social Services Center.

Entity work teams: Civil Protection, Caritas, Red Cross, entities providing home care services and collaborators.

The actions are carried out in shifts of telephone attention, provided by social workers, from Monday to Sunday, from 08:00 to 21:00.

"It is a commitment of the Municipal Corporation to protect the health and safety of citizens, contain the progression of the coronavirus and pay attention to basic social needs (food, basic supplies, accommodation, etc.) to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Molina de Segura, prevent risk situations and facilitate the permanence of vulnerable people in their homes, "says Ángel Navarro.
