The Hospital de Molina has joined the summer blood collection campaign that the Regional Hemodonation Center has launched, and which is carrying out its tour of public and private hospitals in the Region of Murcia this July. 22 people have come to the hospital this morning to donate blood, of which 2 have done so for the first time, and 4 others have been unable to do so for medical reasons.
Finally, 18 effective donations have been obtained.
In addition, 1 person underwent histocompatibility typing to become a bone marrow donor. Each donor has undergone a preventive medical examination before carrying out the blood donation and the safety and hygiene measures related to covid-19 have been extreme. The Regional Hemodonation Center continues to need between 250 and 300 blood donations a day.
Especially strong is the demand for blood components, intended not only for surgeries, emergencies, etc., but also for hematological, chronic and oncological patients who need daily transfusions of blood components, especially platelets. The Regional Hemodonación Center travels more than 12,000 km this summer with its mobile units, so that donations can be made at more than 160 authorized points throughout the Region.
