PP: "the local government PSOE-Podemos, makes cuts and covers up its mismanagement with the COVID-19 pandemic" (15/07/2020)

From the Popular Party of Molina de Segura we report once again about the chaos that the local government PSOE-Podemos is causing, as a result of its mismanagement, and lack of capacity to know how to efficiently manage public resources of the citizenry. The cuts announced this month at a press conference by the mayor, Esther Clavero, are the result of mismanagement by the left-wing coalition government, and not as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regarding the comments, we highlight: Since 2019, the spending ceiling has been breached, so COVID-19 has had nothing to do with this breach. The real reason for the cuts that the local Government Team is making is because there is a deficit in the coffers of the Molina de Segura City Council of around € 2,600,000. Currently we only know about € 1,800,000 of the cuts raised by the Government Team.

As of today, they have not provided information on where they are going to cut the other € 800,000, which remains to be known about the adjustments they have made. The PSOE Podemos Government Team should inform the citizens and the rest of the Municipal Groups if they plan to continue making further cuts in public services, until they reach those € 800,000 that they lack, of the Economic Plan.

Recall that during the pandemic they applied an ERTE to Sercomosa workers, and they have also fired 23 workers from nursery schools, among other things. The PSOE-Podemos coalition inherited a healthy economy from the PP of Molina de Segura, and with a surplus of € 5,397,516. On the contrary, the PSOE in 1995, when it governed this city council of Molina de Segura, left it in technical bankruptcy with a debt of 3,000 million pesetas, an amount that equaled the municipal budget of that time, in addition to the fact that no company wanted to work in Molina de Segura because the City Council did not pay him. We recall that currently the PSOE-Podemos Government Team has generated a deficit of € 2,600,000 at the Molina de Segura City Council. The Adjustment Plan presented by the PP in the last economic crisis of 2012, had the consensus of social and union agents, while the PSOE abstained.

In addition, the plan proposed by the PP never included cuts to municipal employees, as the current PSOE Podemos Government Team is doing. The PSOE Podemos Government Team has not consulted or agreed on the economic adjustments made, much less those they plan to make, neither with the other political groups, nor with the unions, nor with the corresponding organizations.

Situation that shows, once again, the arrogance of this local government, and that its policy is based on passing the roll of its absolute majority. The COVID-19 cannot be the excuse to cover up the mismanagement of this Government Team, either, because although it is true that the City Council has reduced income during the pandemic, it has also reduced expenses by failing to provide a significant number of services throughout these months. That in the last Ordinary Plenary of June 29, both the PSOE and Podemos voted against lowering the remuneration of the councilmen, with a maneuver to deceive, once again, the citizens by presenting an amendment that conditions the lowering of salaries of the councilors to make the same happen in the compensation of municipal employees, when they know that their salaries are determined by the Government of Spain and that for the moment they will not be reduced.
