The Molina de Segura City Council is finalizing the implementation of a quality control plan for the sewage network water (04/08/2020)

| The plan seeks to improve the quality of the effluents received by the Molina-Norte WWTP, which registers a significant number of incidents due to uncontrolled discharges of industrial origin that cause problems in the treatment systems | The Government Team of the Molina de Segura City Council is preparing a plan to systematically and orderly control the quality of the water in the municipal sanitation network, according to the Councilor for the Environment, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo, who he hopes to put forth soon.

the document in knowledge of the Local Government Board for its approval and in whose writing the municipal technicians work. The objective of this plan is to improve the quality of the effluents received by the Molina-Norte WWTP, which has been registering a significant number of incidents due to uncontrolled industrial discharges that are causing various problems in the plant's treatment systems. The treated water in this WWTP feeds the wetland of international importance "Lagunas de Campotéjar", as well as several water concessions for irrigation communities in the municipality and irrigation of green areas.

The mayor of Molino has specified that all this makes the improvement of the quality of the water treated in this plant a priority objective for the local government. Molina de Segura is one of the most industrialized municipalities in the south-east of the peninsula, with more than 2,000 industrial-type companies that absorb almost a third of direct employment and invoice more than 3,000 million euros annually.

The municipality is immersed in a process of economic reactivation, currently having 28 business areas, 6 of them consolidated polygons, one under construction, another in execution and another more in the pipeline. Mariano Vicente Albaladejo considers that this development cannot be carried out with the environmental deficits that were registered in other times and that have left important consequences in the territory.

For this reason, he added, an important effort is being made to provide Molina de Segura with technical control instruments, as it has been, very recently in terms of air quality, and now, once the budget extension was approved on 31 July, with the Plan of Control of Spills that will have the necessary financial endowment for its development. The municipal sanitation network is spread over more than 400 linear km, of which almost 80 km are general collectors (30 of them driven); and they connect districts, urban areas and industrial areas with the main treatment plant "Molina Norte", which has a treatment capacity of 9 cubic hectometers per year. This infrastructure is maintained and managed by the municipal services and the SERCOMOSA company, but until now it has not had a systematic spill control plan such as the one to be implemented, a plan designed by the technicians of the Department of the Environment.

with more than 200 annual control interventions with sampling and analytics in a certified laboratory.
