The new water network of Los Valientes Viejos ends as of today with the pressure problems suffered by the 51 subscribers of this housing nucleus (07/08/2020)

| The City Council of Molina de Segura invests 301,432.21 euros in the installation of a pumping station, the renewal of networks and the placement of security systems according to current health requirements | The new network of water for human consumption in Los Valientes Viejos, in the hamlet of Los Valientes, has entered service today, Friday, August 7, after the work carried out by the City Council to improve the existing network and achieve Do this with adequate pressures and guarantee the security of said network according to current health requirements. The improvements, which have involved a municipal investment of 301,432.21 euros, have consisted in the incorporation of a drinking water pumping station (EBAP) with which adequate pressures have been achieved in the networks, and thus, in the points lowest in the sector, avoid registering excessively high pressures that may cause discomfort to users. Likewise, the existing small-section networks that could not withstand the new pressure generated by the EBAP have been renovated with high-density expanded polyethylene (HDPE), of different diameters.

The connections and meter cabinets for users in the area have also been renewed, and security systems have been installed in the new networks, such as valves and other control elements, in order to adapt the infrastructure to current sanitary requirements. This nucleus of houses has suffered from its creation low pressures in the drinking water network, a situation that worsened even more when cuts occurred, either by the Commonwealth of Channels of Taibilla (MCT) or by actions of any kind , in the municipal networks that existed. Los Valientes Viejos, with a total of 51 subscribers at present, is one of the oldest housing units in the district of Los Valientes, located in one of its highest areas. To supply subscribers to this area, PVC nets were installed more than 30 years ago, running through paths and roads.

These water infrastructures for human consumption, over the years, like the trails and roads, have been transformed into consolidated roads or pending modification of the PGOU, and also by trails that pass through private properties, specifically in the case of the leading accountants. The water service for human consumption has as an injection point an outlet from the existing MCT in the area of ??the Los Valientes district.

Until the entry into service today of the improvements made, the supply was done by gravity, (without the need for an extra supply of energy), from the aforementioned outlet to the furthest point. The height difference, from the start of driving (taking the MCT) to the farthest and highest point of Los Valientes Viejos, is almost minimal, which gave rise to very low pressures compared to other subscribers in the same area as They are located at lower points than the general connection point. The pressures in times of greater consumption, mainly in spring-summer, and at the most unfavorable points in this area, did not exceed 0.5 atm.

These low pressures were aggravated when the MCT made cuts in the service, giving rise to hydraulic problems given the little difference in height with respect to the general connection point.

All these problems are solved with the improvements in the network that today have entered service. Access to the control area, where the water tanks are located, is through the Camino Viejo de Alicante, a 724-meter road on which refurbishment works have recently been undertaken, specifically acting on the pavements and signs. The Camino Viejo de Alicante, in the district of Los Valientes, joins the road from El Fenazar to Los Valientes with the neighborhood of Los Valientes Viejos and El Tomillar.

This road presented a serious deterioration in its surface with numerous and large potholes that caused the tendency of users to avoid them, invading the opposite traffic lane with the danger that this entailed for safety. The conditioning works of this road, an action of the Plan of Districts, Provincial Councils and Peripheral and / or Depressed Neighborhoods for the years 2018-2019, have involved a shared investment of the Ministry of the Presidency and Finance and the City Council of Molina de Segura de 26,687.63 euros.
