The Alto del Rellano Nature Center - Vicente Blanes de Molina de Segura Park opens its doors on Sunday, October 25 to show the rich geological heritage of the municipality (22/10/2020)

to 2 p.m.

On this day the municipal service proposes, to all those interested in visiting this area, discover the geological wealth that the municipality of Molina de Segura has.

To do this, specific materials will be made available to visitors to make this visit interesting. The municipality of Molina de Segura has several Places of Geological Interest (LIG), among which are the coral reefs of El Rellano, the unconformity of Los Coloraos, or the geodiversity of the Sierra de Lúgar, among others.

In this area of ??the municipality, the presence of deposits of organisms that lived on our planet millions of years ago stands out, of which we can find an interesting sample in the exhibition The history of Molina through the Fossils, which can be visited in the Center of the Alto del Rellano Nature Park - Vicente Blanes Park.

It also has rocks, minerals and fossil remains of great paleontological interest, ranging from the Secondary Era to the present, being the only Nature Center in the Region of Murcia that is dedicated to disseminating the geodiversity of a municipality.In it you can also admire an exact replica of the Molina de Segura meteorite.

This exhibition is open to the public during the normal hours of the Nature Center, from 10:00 to 14:00. In this new day, the Councilor for the Environment, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo, wants to highlight "the important geodiversity of our municipality, which has several points of geological interest, many classified as LIG, and the necessary information and awareness work that we are doing from the Department so that our neighbors, as well as visitors from other places in the Region, discover, know and value this geological wealth, since this knowledge allows us to be aware of the need for its conservation, and its presence allows us understand the current conformation of our landscapes ".
