II Online Conference Innovative societies for cities of the future in Molina de Segura (18/11/2020)

| The initiative has been promoted by the Department of Citizen Participation of the Molinense Council and the Open Chair for Innovation and Participation of the universities of Murcia and Politecnica de Cartagena | The Department of Citizen Participation of the Molina de Segura City Council and the Open Chair for Innovation and Participation of the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena organize the II Conference by videoconference Innovative societies for cities of the future, in collaboration with the Federation of Inter-neighborhood Neighborhood Associations, the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia (FMRM) and the International Observatory of Participatory Democracy (OIDP). The presentation of the conference took place, today, Wednesday November 18, in the Municipal Plenary Hall, with the assistance of the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the Honorary President of the Open Chair, José Molina Molina, the professor from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Co-director of the Open Chair, Jaume Blancafort Sansó.

The President of the FMRM and Mayor of Bullas, María Dolores Muñoz Valverde, also participated in the event, via video message. "The transformation of cities requires the participation of citizens with a commitment from public and private institutions to face the new challenges of a more integrated society, says Mayor Esther Clavero-.

Molina de Segura is a very representative city in two aspects: its constant commitment to its citizens and its drive for innovation to face the challenges of economic changes.

COVID-19 has faced us with new challenges and we must look at this transformation of the 2030 Goals as something to fight for ". The objective of this cycle is to promote a first great debate in which it is intended that citizens commit themselves in several aspects that are considered essential to overcome the way out of this crisis: THE CHALLENGES FOR A NEW SOCIETY - The challenges of the markets.

This debate is the beginning of a plan to rebuild more sustainable, just and resilient cities, and regain the trust of citizens that has been lost with the weakness of the system and exacerbated by the pandemic.

A plan for cities that commit to tackle a new economic strategy. The initiative has the collaboration of the FMRM (which covers a total of 1,500,000 inhabitants and 45 municipalities), and the two public universities, which will transmit it to their students.

Everything will be done using the means of the new platforms, with the support for its dissemination of Nova-Gob (Spain) and U-gob (Mexico), and the OIDP.
