The municipality of Molina de Segura reduces the number of active cases due to COVID-19 by almost half in a week, which stands at 65 (26/11/2020)

| As of yesterday, Wednesday, November 25, Molina de Segura has an accumulated incidence in last 7 days of 83.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants | The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, presented at a press conference, today Thursday, November 26, in the Municipal Plenary Hall, updated data on the incidence of the COVID-19 pandemic in the municipality.

He was accompanied in the presentation by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Miguel Ángel Cantero García. "The evolution of the pandemic in Molina de Segura during the last week - the Mayor pointed out - leads us to think that not only has the contact curve stabilized, but that it is in a clear and sustained decline.

notable and evident cut in the rate of infections ". As of yesterday, Wednesday, November 25, Molina de Segura has a total of 65 active cases, 56 less than last Thursday, November 19, with a cumulative incidence in the last 7 days of 83.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In a week in Molina de Segura the number of active cases has practically halved and the Accumulated Incidence per 100,000 inhabitants has gone from 126.6 to 83.5 cases. So far in this second wave, the accumulated number of cases is 2,441.

The increase, from last Thursday to Wednesday, has been 89 positive CRP, a daily average substantially lower than the daily rate of the previous weeks. The decrease has also been quite significant in the Accumulated Incidence at fourteen days.

Last Wednesday it was 390.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

"Yesterday that data was 230.9, well below the barrier of 500 cases.

I remind you that our municipality came to be a little over two weeks ago with an incidence of more than 660 cases.

The collective effort of the immense Most of Molinense society is bearing fruit.

For this reason, I want to publicly acknowledge the civility and sacrifice of our neighbors, who are renouncing, in their vast majority, to maintain personal contact between family members, friends and coworkers.

" According to Esther Clavero, "there will be those who say that the decrease in the number of infections is due to collective responsibility, and others will more agree that it is due to the restrictive measures agreed by the local, regional and national health authorities.

I think, rather, that it is a conjunction of both.

Specific restrictions and community responsibility, together with the enormous effort of health workers, trackers, professionals, etc.

Even so, it is no less true that we have had to take coercive measures to enforce the rules , for the fundamental reason that community health is at risk and we cannot tolerate irresponsibilities that cause harm to all citizens ". The negative part of this balance continues to be, for another week, in the number of deaths.

During this second wave, in Molina de Segura, 42 people have lost their lives as a result of the coronavirus, the vast majority of them elderly.

"In this last week there have been 3 residents of our town who have left us.

My condolences go here to the family and friends of the people who have died as a result of this disease," Clavero laments. Since the beginning of the adoption of restrictive measures, the Local Police has imposed a total of 754 sanctions, 31 of them in the week of November 16 to 22 for very different reasons, among which are non-compliance with quarantine, no use of a mask, excessive vehicle occupancy, not respecting the mobility limitation or not respecting the perimeter confinement. "Although the data bring us closer to optimism, the Mayor points out, I want to be cautious, as we are in the Technical-Scientific Committee, which we met yesterday Wednesday, to evaluate the progress of the pandemic in our municipality, but it is also true that we must congratulate ourselves as a society for making the collective effort to reduce the cases and, therefore, the incidence of the pandemic in Molina de Segura.

It is not, of course, the moment to relax, but it is time to verify the fact that the measures implemented The march is giving results, as the data at the national level also indicate.

But the pressure on the health system continues to be unbearable, as is the number of victims who are reported every day.

That is why my obligation is to continue remembering our neighbors the need to prevent,to be very meticulous with cleaning hands, social distance and the use of a mask.

I especially want to reiterate a call for us to take care of our elderly people.

And now, in these moments, caring does not mean hugging, but protecting ourselves, taking care of ourselves so as not to infect the most vulnerable people.

" Since last Saturday, Molina de Segura is one of the municipalities where the opening of hospitality establishments is allowed, although with restrictions.

"Without a doubt, Clavero adds - this is good news, which should not make us relax either.

What we are doing is meeting with representatives of the hospitality sector in our municipality and reaching agreements to alleviate the economic effect of the closures." "On the horizon, elements for hope are beginning to be put on the table, such as the vaccine, but I insist on caution and prevention.

To trust ourselves too much would be bread for today and more pandemic for tomorrow.

From the City Council of Molina de Segura we are going to continue working, as municipal government, and in coordination with health technicians and regional and national authorities, to combat this health crisis.

I remind you that our maxim is to try not to leave anyone behind, neither people nor economies, which are subsistence of many families ", concludes the Mayor.
