The Molina de Segura Ancient Music Festival, MOMUA 2020, closes its digital edition with a great reception (30/11/2020)

After three weeks where ancient music in its various aspects has been the protagonist, this weekend the digital edition of MOMUA, the Molina Festival of Ancient Music, has ended in its online edition, closing its doors until next year.During all this time, there have been many scholars and fans of ancient music who have enjoyed the different activities programmed by the organization, which has managed to carry the name of Molina all over the world.The exceptional health crisis situation produced by the COVID 19 pandemic, made it necessary to reorganize all the scheduled start-up activities and bet on an exclusively online edition that has achieved a great reception, with numerous students throughout Spain and Latin America as well as teachers and speakers residing in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Italy who have delighted listeners.From the specialized courses with prestigious musicologists such as Emilio Villalba, Maria Bayley, Mauricio Molina or Eduardo Sohns, to the informative talks MOMUA DESDE EL DIVÁN, with Samir Suez, Catalina Vicens, or the festival director herself, the musicologist Mª Ángeles Zapata, the contents They have been extensive and rigorous and exhibited in an agile and interactive way, obtaining participation figures that have nothing to envy to the great festivals and that consolidate MOMUA as a reference for lovers of early music in our country.ELMOMUA Throughout its trajectory it has counted on the performance of groups specialized in the interpretation of early music, as well as specialist teachers, with a great professional trajectory and projection at a national and international level.Led by the musicologist Mª Ángeles Zapata and the violinist Lorenzo Cutillas, the organization is run by the Department of Culture of the Molina de Segura City Council and the female vocal group DeMusica Ensemble, whose commitment is to investigate, rescue, interpret, disseminate and promote music composed and / or performed by women, with the aim of making the role of women visible throughout the history of music.The Momua began its trajectory in 2017 with the aim of giving a cultural boost to the city, and revaluing the historical-artistic heritage of Molina de Segura (Murcia, Spain).

Taking advantage of the architectural and historical potential of the city, the Festival is based in the Museum of the Enclave de la Muralla- MUDEM, a cultural-museum space created with the aim of protecting and disseminating the remains of the Molina de Segura wall, a typical fortification of Andalusian origin between the 11th centuries and XVI.
