| The Municipality of Molina has lit red and has placed a large commemorative poster in the pavilions of the El Romeral Sports City | This year, due to the situation generated by COVID-19, no informative material has been prepared to be distributed in the municipality On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the Department of Sports and Health of the City of Molina de Segura joins the Department of Health of the Region of Murcia and adheres to the global initiative of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV / AIDS (UNAIDS).

The Consistory has lit red and has placed a large commemorative poster in the pavilions of the El Romeral Sports City. The Ministry of Health (www.murciasalud.es/sida2020/index.html) again this year insists on the IF DOUBT, DO NOT DOUBT: Get tested for HIV / AIDS, with which it aims to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of this infection, the importance of eliminating stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and AIDS, guaranteeing equal treatment and opportunities, respect for fundamental rights and the diversity of the affected people. This year, due to the situation generated by COVID-19, no informative material has been prepared to be distributed in the municipalities of the Region of Murcia. Regarding prevention, taking into account that the risk of contagion has been evolving for years towards sexual relations, the use of condoms is the best form of prevention of HIV / AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Therefore, when you have sex with people who do not know whether or not they suffer from any of these diseases, the use of a condom is the fundamental key to prevention. Regarding early diagnosis, around half of HIV-infected patients cannot benefit adequately from antiretroviral treatments, since they are diagnosed late, when their immune status is severely affected.

These patients could have prevented the progression of the infection if they had been diagnosed earlier.

In addition to promoting early diagnosis, it is essential to increase the population's knowledge of HIV infection and other STIs, reinforcing a comprehensive, healthy and enjoyable sexual education that includes information on risk practices and preventive behaviors supported by scientific knowledge to reduce the chances of transmission.

Currently, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), as a biomedical intervention,It is one more preventive option to consider, within the combined prevention offer that complements a global strategy for HIV prevention and control of other STIs. Furthermore, the discrimination and stigmatization of the affected people only increase their suffering, being the responsibility of the whole society to avoid social exclusion and the feeling of rejection.

The public health system has the responsibility of ensuring that citizens who have already been infected, know their serological status as soon as possible to be able to start the appropriate treatment and stop the progression of the disease, as well as the transmission of the infection to other people, in addition to carrying out a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach in the care of people with HIV infection that increases their health, well-being and quality of life.

For this reason,The Health Information and Education Program on AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) of the Ministry of Health offers information in this regard by calling 900 706 706 and facilitates the performance of the HIV determination test and other STI anonymously and free of charge. At the same time, other private social entities that collaborate with the public health system in the prevention of the transmission of these infections, provide the rapid HIV test to the entire population that wishes it.

This test is performed from an oral fluid sample, and the result is obtained in less than 40 minutes.

You can also contact the health center, where the Primary Care staff will advise and provide accurate information on sexual health and infection with HIV / AIDS and other STIs.
