Dragonflies are insects that have lived on our planet for 300 million years.

Their importance lies in the fact that they are very effective predators, both in their larval stage and as adults.

They are associated with places with water where they feed on other living beings, such as protozoa, small crustaceans or arthropods.

Adults consume large numbers of insects that they catch on the fly.

This group of insects need clean and well oxygenated water to carry out their larval development, so they are indicators of water quality.

Along with the presence of dragonflies, we also find other insects whose life cycles are associated with water, such as mosquitoes and water bugs, which serve as food for fish, amphibians and other animals.

thus maintaining the balance of aquatic ecosystems.

The Councilor for the Environment, Mariano Vicente Albaladejo, encourages "all residents of Molina de Segura to discover this interesting group of animals and the services they provide to ecosystems".

In addition, he highlighted "the educational work carried out by this and other visitor centers in Molina de Segura, with actions aimed at maintaining and conserving the natural environment of the municipality, since it is the legacy that we leave to the generations to come.
